This past Thursday and Friday, my study abroad program took us for a little trip around the hills of Tuscany. Our first stop was a little town, Monteriggioni, with the medieval wall still fully intact around the city but what really blew me away was Siena. I loved it. The streets were tiny and small but opened up into these amazing piazza's that were filled with people enjoying the sun and taking walks. The entire city smelled of amazing foods and the architecture was beautiful. We had an amazing lunch, sat in Piazza del Campo eating gelato and had a tour of the church by a tour guide wearing a pink glittery watch. I am just as confused as you are. The church was like the Duomo in Florence but a million times better on the inside. The columns looked like jail stripes and the rest was completely decorated with amazing marble, flags and sculptures. I can't wait to go back.
Giovedì e Venerdì scorso, il mio programma di study abroad ci ha portato per un gita nelle colline della toscana. La prima fermata è stato un paese piccolo, Monteriggioni. Ha ancora la cerchia delle mura e le torri medievali intatte. Ma mi sono innamorata di Siena. Le strade sono piccole e portano a grande piazze piene di persone che prendono il sole e fanno passeggiate. La città ha un profumo di cibo e l'architettura è bellisima. Abbiamo mangiato bene, ci siamo sedute nella Piazza del campo mangiando un gelato e abbiamo girato la citta con una guida turistica. La chiesa è simile al duomo di Firenze ma molto più bella all'interno. Le colonne sono decorate con marmo a strisce e il resto della chiesa è decorato con bandiere della città e sculture. Non vedo l'ora di ritornarci.
