Carnevale

I have decided that Carnevale in Montefiore is a mix between Halloween and an adult 4th of July parade.  Everyone is dressed up in costumes, drinking, dancing and walking with floats that are being pulled by tractors creating the slowest moving parade ever.  My roommates have been talking about this since New Years Eve.  They told me to not wear anything I didn't want to get ruined, to leave my wallet and cellphone at home and to be prepared to party all day long.  No big deal. Right? I mean, I celebrate Unofficial once a year.  Well Carnevale was just as insane and fully embraced by the entire town, not just the wasted college kids.  All of my friends dressed for a specific car and were all wearing yellow.  Since Maried, Augusto and I didn't buy the costume, we chose to wear Brazil soccer jerseys to blend in with our friends.  They were perfect!  I felt like we were dressed the most normal of everyone there but they still drew a lot of attention.  The parade started at 2:30 and all the floats lined up and started their course.  We didn't make it to the top of the town until 8:00 and spent the entire time on our way up partying.  No one ever got tired either.  Minus a few minor wipe outs.  This would never happen in the United States because the police would have arrested everyone.  Instead, the police here just watch everyone.  It took a lot out of us and Augusto, Maried and I found ourselves going to sleep at 9:02pm.  Good work team!

Ho deciso che Carnevale a Montefiore è una combinazione tra Halloween e una parata del quattro luglio per adulti.  Tutti vestono in costumi, bevendo, ballando, e camminando con i carri che sono tirati dai trattori, creando la più lenta parata nel mondo.  Da capodanno i miei coinquillini stavano parlando di Carnevale. Loro mi hanno detto di non vestire con vestiti buoni, di lasciare il mio portafoglio e cellulare a casa, e prepararmi a festeggiare tutto il giorno!  Non c'è problema. Vero? Festeggio "Unofficial" ogni anno.  Ma Carnevale è proprio un casino come Unofficial ma tutti nel paese festeggiano, non solo gli studenti dell'università.  Tutti i miei amici hanno vestito di giallo per un carro specifico.  Perchè Maried, Augusto ed io non abbiamo comprato i costumi, abbiamo scelto di vestire con le magliette brasiliane per sembrare come i nostri amici.  Erano perfetti!  Penso che abbiamo vestito il più normale di tutti ma invece le magliette attirare l'attenzione di tutti!  La parata è cominciato alle 2:30 ma non siamo arriviati alla piazza finale prima delle 8:00.  Abbiamo festiggiato un giorno interno.  Nessuno si è mai stancato.  A parte alcune cadute.  Questo giorno non potrebbe esistere mai negli stati uniti perchè la polizia avrebbe arrestato tutti.  Invece, qui la polizia festeggia con tutti.  Alle fine, siamo stati stanchissimi e siamo andati a dormire alle 9:02.  Buon lavoro squadra!
